Stretching Flexibility Training is often the part that people miss out of their routine either because they run out of time or they just don't think it does them any good. This is a mistake as there are many benefits to flexibility training. Many times I have trained a new client and they have said they feel better even after the stretch at the beginning.
Many experts are saying that stretching flexibility before exercise doesn't reduce the risk of injury, but it is good to get in the habit of stretching and acts as part of a psychological warm up to exercise.

The following are all benefits of stretching flexibility:

  • Increased energy levels
  • Improved flexibility
  • Improved range of the joints
  • Improved circulation of blood
  • Relaxation and stress relief
  • Enhanced muscular coordination
  • Improved posture
  • fitball and mat

Modern life places uneven demands on the body. Poor posture whilst driving, sitting at your workstation and poor exercise routines can lead to problems with unbalanced muscle strength and flexibility. We have all see the guy down the beach who has been working chest and arms but has neglected to stretch this muscles and as a result is slightly hunched over. A simple who body stretching regime can help this.

Stretching flexibility exercises can be performed virtually anywhere as they don't make you sweat and they require no equipment. Why not take 5 minutes from your desk and have a quick stretch of the back of the legs, shoulders neck and back? I bet if you try it you will feel much better. Your muscles will feel loose and you will feel less stressed as you breathe more slowly whilst stretching.

If you would like help with your strecthing routing you can enlist the help of a personal trainer in your area, see our personal trainer search area. You can also get some great routines from books and DVDs that will show you the correct way of doing stretching flexibility exercises.
